Tsolum River Ranch + Studio Aase

A love for farming rising up from childhood, Aase lives on her own one-woman farm in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island. There she is nourished by her love for animals. Surrounded by her loyal livestock guardian and herding dogs, Aase raises cattle, laying hens, and sheep which provide her with the wool used in the garments, home styling, and art pieces she designs and creates. Aase’s natural abilities with fibre were handed down through her Scandinavian heritage. Her farm and studio work is intrinsically entwined in the life cycle of birth to death. At the end of their lifespan Aase’s studio pieces can be returned back to the earth, renewing and replenishing the soil.
